Photobucket

Another Arizona sunrise

We got our tax refund today. Paid bills. Paying bills used to be a depressing task but now it's actually a good feeling to know that we can cover all our expenses without having to shuffle them around and make some late.

I have to do some clothes shopping for the girls today, they just grow so damn fast. Em's hand-me-downs used to work for Birdy but she are on different seasons with sizes now. All of Em's old 3T stuff is winter and Birdy is just now getting to that size. And Em is just growing way too fast... she is the tallest kid in her class, not just the tallest girl but the tallest period. I was told that the height of a child at age 2 doubled is a good judge of how tall they will be when they are done growing, give or take an inch or two. Em was 3 feet tall at 2, so that would make her around 6 feet tall when she's done growing. My guess is going to be 5'7"-ish. She's going to be pretty tall, taller than her mom.

I really did have anything to blog about today. I was just killing time since Sarah went to playgroup today and didn't chat with me this morning and I was bored. I better get my ass in gear now. There's laundry waiting for me to tend to and I need to figure out what to make for lunch.

One morning over the weekend Natalie and I got up earlier than usual, not much but earlier still. I noticed the sunrise was beautiful with purple and pink clouds. I thought to myself that I should take a picture. First though I had to get Natalie a few things and turn on a show for her. After I grabbed the camera I saw that I had missed the pink and purple sunrise but I took a few anyway.

I think they turned out really nice, especially the second one. After being here for just over a year, I am still in awe by the desert's beauty. The sunrises and sunsets are truly amazing.

The weather is warming up and hopefully the desert wildflowers will be blooming soon. I'm hoping to find the poppy fields and get some great shots with my camera. This weekend should be good for a trip up the Superstitions, maybe do some hiking, take some pictures and have a picnic.

Today was a pretty good day. My house has been cleaner lately due to my rockin efforts, so this morning I noticed that I didn't have a whole ton to do. My neighbor, Janet, came over for coffee like she does every Thursday and the kids were just not letting us converse. She whispered that we should take the kids to "Old McDonald's" so they could play and we could chit-chat. So off we were to mickey D's with ALL the elderly people in our town. While they were crammed cane to cane in the main dining area we happily chatted our asses off in the kiddie area.

We came back here so I could get Em ready for school. I was planning on spending my $25 Target gift card that was burning a hole in my pocket while Em was at school today. Janet decided to meet us there since she needed to pick up socks for her son, who was home sick from school. He's 6 and a sweetheart. So Janet and her son meet Natalie and myself at Target for a little shopping. I got me some new jeans and the girls some stupid stuffed noisy toy from the $1 section they have at the front. Janet's son wanted to ride in "Vanna" back to the house. Vanna White is my van.... I call her that because she's a van and because she's white.

Anywho... getting off topic. So since we're both headed in the same direction, we decide to make it a race. I SO love a good race!! She had an advantage since she didn't have to buckle any children in and she got out of the parking lot first. I pride myself on being a phenomenal driver and kicked my skills into overdrive. She turned down one street hoping for a shortcut, in the end my Vanna won and now Janet gets the first round of Saturday drinks on her. Thank you Vanna and my mad driving skills!

Happy Valentine's Day to the masses!

And to my sweetheart, my lobster... Todd! I love you babe!

My daughter, she's five, has been twirling her hair around her fingers to the point the it knots up and even falls out. We've been doing our best at trying to distract her from doing it. I mean it's so bad that I find knotted clumps in her bed when I change her sheets.

Today is picture day which I mentioned before and as I was trying to put her hair in a cute ponytail I noticed she has a bald spot on the side of her head. I had to start over and do something completely different to cover up the evidence of her twirling. Not only that but now I feel an urgency to break her of this damaging habit before it gets worse. I need to find the root of this new nervous behavior.
Today is picture day again at Em's school, we just had one in the fall. I know we're not obligated to buy them but after my daughter has been practicing her pose for a week I'm sure it's going to be hard to deny her. It would be better if the school just skipped the Spring pictures all together.

After school today we're going to DQ for cones. The girls each recieved $5 from their Grammie for Valentine's Day (like they do for every holiday) and it's burning holes in their little pockets. Em will have her chocolate cone and Birdy will have her "banilla" cone. They are so much fun these days.

The weather is warming up already and I'm loving it! The forecasted high for today is 76 degrees. How nice is that? Yesterday the girls and I sat out in the backyard and made tissue paper flowers. I feel energized after soaking up some sun.

Time to wash the hair of little girls. Then I have some laundry to do (as always) and other things that I can't remember right now.

I really don't know if I have time for journaling/blogging but I'm going to try and fit it in. If anything it will help with my writing skills, my mad writing skills. I just need to block out some time for it like I do with the other things I have to do.I don't have the time right at this moment though. Kids are at the table eating lunch, then it's off to take Em to school.
